Hey its Summer!

Its summer – and my paintbrushes have gone on holiday – grrrrrrr

Summer is here and some fine weather is in prospect, following on a week or so of warm and sunny days.

So the paint brush gang have packed their bags and headed for the seaside or wherever paintbrushes go in holiday.

figures abandoned in the basing zone………. WW1 Belgians (posing as Neapolitan Chasseurs 1859) with ACW Union Infantry (posing as Bologna Volunteers 1859) and Austrians in kettel and short shako (posing as themselves 1848 – 1860)

That means the Painting Pedestal stands bare.

the painting pedestal – a study in “still life”

Hopefully the Painting Pedestal will return later this year. Meanwhile the Painting Table is crowded with a queue of figures pleading to be painted or have their bases finished off……..

These Irregular Miniatures metal 20mm British Infantry boast the mid 19th century fancy of the wide topped shako.
These Warrior Miniatures metal 25mm Napoleonic Spanish are just started – in the distance some revolutionry chaps are awaiting their first colours – also from Warrior Miniatures.

Enjoy your Summer whatever the weather and whatever you do.

I really like your paint conversions of the 1/72 figures. They look great.
Good looking metal figures too. The Irregular I know and really like. The Warrior are good looking figures too. Are they true 25 mm and hence mix well with 1/72?
Enjoy your summer. It is going the other way here, but nearly solstice, so the days will be getting longer once more!

Hi James, thanks for the compliment. At first I was a bit despondent about post napoleonic europe being a lot different. It was perception. So the British at Balaclava in the 1850’s wear uniforms that credit the French of 1815. So once I started looking I realised I could paint some alterations. The main challenge is the shrinking shako! we will see what comes next.

As regards the metals – i copied the plastic pelisse and parade ground blogs and did some saxon/normans comparisons last year. I ought to do the same for post 1815 figures as I am mixing metals and plastics.

Finally after a very mixed spring we have had some warm and sunny weather which is just as well, as it starts getting darker in 11 days time! Still, that means the paint brushes will have to come home from their jollies!
