Intermission 22i – Autumn

Autumn has offered yet more fantastic sunsets, no clouds no rain and more blue skies than a typical year
This sunset had some interesting mixes of oranges and reds
York recently hosted a balloon festival – going aloft on a fine day is this impressive multi coloured balloon
Up up and away
This time of year there is still pollen about and this particular shrub is vital for sustaining insects into the winter. Its the common ivy and on a warm day it can be literally humming with activity
Leaves are the feature of Autumn along with fog and the first frosts. Some trees like this Acer give you only a day of green to red before turning crinkly brown. Already the buds are set for next years greening.
Not the end but the beginning! This Witch Hazel is just getting ready to flower over the winter.
This Hornbeam offers up yellows and golds while the Acer above hangs on to its vibrant green leaves.
I will finish with another sunset.

Intermission 21f – What a Spring!

Spring 2021 has sprung some surprises.

fantastic sunsets under clear skies during the dry period…..

Deserted York riverside in super bright sun……

The Emperor Constantine is unmoved despite his backdrop being cluttered as the Minster undergoes necessary repairs. I bet Rome and Constantinople had their fair share of busy scaffolding contractors.

Spring flowers always includes tulips ………

More sunshine lights up this medieval building in an empty York.

Some plants still thrive despite the cold providing splashes of green
Sunrise through a frosted window!
A small world of frosted mosses nestle in a gap between roof tiles.
Silver grey branches of trees already reaching for the growing sunshine while some feel the deathly grip of ivy

Mr or Mrs hedgehog you need to be under those leaves by now and like many creatures hibernating against the dark and cold unless your a lichen………………………

or a bracket fungus

Some lichen are very vibrant in the particular light of early winter and I think these berries nicely set off the green and yellow of these lichen

Now MAX your volume for a few seconds of…………

And some birdsong however faint again the “road noise” is always welcome

The berries give this tree an almost festive air with so many shiney baubles……….
